Monetizing Sites Selling Text Links

If your like me you may have many sites that aren't earning what you want or some that do well and you just have some extra real estate on them. I've tried selling text links the manual way and through eBay but neither proved to be worth the time. Either i'd be spending too much time sending bills and adding and removing links or i'd pay fees to eBay that made it hardly worth while. After hearing about Text Link Ads I visited their site to buy some one way links on relavant sites. Sure enough I picked up some links on sites that exactly matched sites of my own. I then gave their link selling site a shot and was fairly impressed. After submitting sites that I wanted to place ads on I then added the code to the home page and an empty XML file to my website root and then waited. A day or so later I received an e-mail that someone had purchased a text link ad on my site. I get 50% of the overall price and the link is a subscription so the possibility of a renewal is quite high. Best yet, after placing the text link ads code on my site I didn't have to do any more work just collect the revenue. The cut at Text Link Ads may be steep but it's worth it to place code once and let them manage the selling and the links. If you want to see more on how this works check out the selling text links part of their web site.

On the buying end of things, they have a great offer going. New clients get 100.00 in free text link ads just for trying out their service. Just enter the code "New client" when registering to get your $100.00 in text link ads. You do have to place a minimum $125.00 order to get this but it's well worth the trial to get some great one way text links to your sites.

LLH.DLL

So I noticed I had two new DLL files on my Windows XP desktop. LLH.DLL and DM.DLL were on my desktop along with my regular icons. Problem was I didn't put LLH.DLL on my desktop. A quick search turned up that PartyPoker.Com was the culprit. Party Poker places LLH.DLL and DM.DLL on your desktop and uses these to keep an eye on your other processes. Perhaps LLH.DLL is used to ensure you are not cheating at poker. This all made sense because I borrowed my wife's laptop to play poker the other night. I did get a PartyPoker update but didn't notice LLH.DLL on my desktop until my wife asked what DM.DLL and LLH.DLL were. What did I do to fix this? I deleted LLH.DLL and DM.DLL and then uninstalled PartyPoker using add/remove programs. I asked PartyPoker when I first signed up if they used spyware. Party Poker said they do not use spyware. We'll i'd consider the use of LLH.DLL spyware enough for me.

Sandals Forums Open Again

Awhile back I had a great well visited forum about Sandals Resorts, primarily in Jamaica. After the Burbon update my visitors could no longer find my Sandals forums so I took them offline. I have since added PHP and Mysql to my web server and decided to use Vbulletin and make a new Sandals Resort Forum site. Hopefully I can make a go of it with or without Google. The main website where I feature Sandals Negril pictures is still visited by quite a few people so hopefully I can revive these new Sandals Resort Forums before the winter.

Camero.Com

In highschool my first car was a 1978 Camero. I loved that car and made it the toughest around. Even after getting in an accident which left the passenger door dented I punched holes in it and pulled out the dent so the door would work. This left if looking as if someone shot me up. Anyway, for those Camero lovers you should check out the blog called Camero.Com it will leave fans of the Camero very satisfied.

The Louisiana Project

A long time ago I created a site called Louisiana Malls. The site has about eight malls in Louisiana that are profiled. I noticed today that the home page for Louisiana Malls is not found in Google. I decided to see what I might do to get this site into Google. Here's what i've done so far. 1: Looked at each page and attempted to make them look better in general. This included adding some pictures and verifying the meta tags were ok. I should add there are no black hat techniques so there is no reason to not include the site in Google's index. I then created a sitemap.txt file containing all the urls and uploaded it to Google's sitemap program. I'm installing Python on my web server as well to try and see if I can get a sitemap.xml created. Stay tuned....

Statements Galore

Long ago I created a bunch of websites about statements. I had thesis statements, personal statements, vision statements all rolled up into a few small websites. Unfortunately a typo kept my Thesis Statement site offline aith a 403 error so hopefully I have that fixed. I don't know why but when I created my Vision Statement site I did not use a dash as I usually do so it makes it hard to check the welfare of your sites when you do that. When it came to naming the personal statement site I went back to a dash, go figure.

Glendale Mall

The Glendale Galleria Mall is a perfect example of how a mall will pick a fancy name and then the local population changes it to suit their needs. What do I mean by this? If you look at how people refer to the Glendale Galleria Mall you'll find that most people refer to it as the Glendale Mall almost on a two to one basis. Despite advertising etc most people prefer to call this beautiful California Mall the Glendale Mall rather than it's proper name, the Glendale Galleria Mall. Oddly enough other malls do not fall prey to this. Take the Fresno Fashion Fair Mall for example, you see the opposite occur. Rather than call it the Fresno Mall people go the extra mile and call it by it's full name the Fresno Fashion Fair Mall. Interesting as this is the margin is not quite as large. Only about 25% more call it the Fresno Fashion Fair Mall than the 50% margin that call the Glendale Mall by it's short name.

When to double your efforts

So with 150 sites and the same income as six months ago coming in, I get the feeling that some sites have dropped off the map. Time to look at those sites and where they rank and make improvements. Take my Colorado Malls website. This site ranks nowhere on even MSN. What do I do? I opened every single page on the Colorado Malls website and slimmed down the meta tags. I ran each page through the Widexl Meta Tag Analyzer tool and now will go about getting a few more links to see if this brings this site back as an earner.

Albertville Outlet Mall or Albertville Premium Outlets???

In Albertville Minnesota there lies a huge outlet mall with the official name Abertville Premium Outlets. Most people know this mall by it's common name, the Albertville Outlet Mall. I always think it's funny when a common name ursurps the fancy name given to a mall by the management. If you check the overture keyword tool you'll fine about 1300 searches for Albertville Outlet Mall in April 06. Only about 300 searches for Albertville Premium Outlets. In the case of the Albertville Outlet Mall they are forunate that they have top ranking for both keywords. Many companies fall off the map because they are not ranked for their common name, only the fancy one no one cares about.
