Think the Cash For Clunkers program will put more fuel efficient cars on the road? Think again. Under the Cash For Clunkers rules you must turn over your car to the dealer who gives you $4500 for it. So really unless you have a fairly crappy car you could likley get more than $4500 with a private sale. The folks who actually drive cars worth less than $4500 are not out buying new cars so even with a $4500 voucher they are likley to opt for the used car probably saving well over $4500 by taking advantage of someone elses depreciation loss. The only persons who really benefit are truck owners who will trade into a new truck. Though wise truck owners would also purchase used and not new as trucks don't change much from model year to model year. The Cash For Clunkers bill should be been called the auto dealer welfare act because when you do the math and analyze who can actualy use the program under the
Cash For Clunkers Rules you'll find that the only benefit falls to the dealers for the small percentage of folks that actually dump their paid off beater for 5-6 years of car payments. More likley however folks not knowing the rules of the Clunker Bill will show up and be disappointed that they cannot trade their car in without taking a loss then decided to go the traditional route of a true trade in or private sale and purchase of a new or 1-2 year old car of their choosing regardless of gas milage. So dealers win by the program generating foot traffic. Most consumers lose because they will most likley finance the cars roping off a chunk of monthly cash flow due to car fever.

Not to be satisfied with the clunker bill passed by the government. Chrysler is now offering an additional $4500 off the price of new vehicles. The
Chrysler Cash For Clunkers special offer effectively doubles the savings a customer of Chrysler would get over Ford Chevrolet or one of the many imports. A savings of $8500 or $9500 may have those who wouldn't consider buying a new car thinking of that new Chrysler minivan or smaller model that gets great MPG. This is smart as there is only a small pool of car buyers with the recession on so leveraging the government Cash For Clunkers program to sweeten their own deal could easily result in increased sales for Chrysler LLC.
Car Dealers Shouldn't Use Audio On The Web
As if car salesmen aren't annoying enough, I keep running across websites for car dealers where a salesman starts talking when you visit the site. If your sound is turned up from maybe a game etc it is REALLY annoying. Recently I found a Ft Pierce Toyota dealer whose website I wanted to check out. I hit the Bev Smith website and BLAH BLAH BLAH I get this guy telling me about Bev Smith Toyota and I have to scramble to get my volume turned done. I'd love to see the research that says that using audio on websites for advertising purposes is a good thing. Lucky this

Turn Off The Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? Warning In IE8
If you use IE8 otherwise known as Internet Explorer 8 you've probably encountered the error Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? that requires you say no to agree to view all the content. If you are tired of seeing Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? and hitting no you don't have to remove IE8 and roll back to Internet Explorer. You can just change a security setting in Internet Explorer 8 to "Display Mixed Content" which will prevent the Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? warning from appearing. To make this setting change in your IE8 browser click Tools, Internet Options. Click the Security tab and click the custom button. Look for the setting called Display Mixed Content and you'll notice it set to prompt. This is what causes the browser to prompt you with that warning. Set it to enable and now you can surf warning free. Keep in mind they put these settings there for a reason so you've slightly lowered your security.
Alternative Work Arrangements
I work at a large company with many sites around the world. Recently i've been hearing of all our troubles with space at our offices. We can't keep building out and expanding into more floors. So as a result we're looking at Alternative Work Arrangements where we use Office Hoteling and Hotdesking to accomodate more workers in less space. This is in addition to more relaxed flexhours and work at home telecommuting plans.
Alternative Work Arrangements are the future as it saves companies many dollars becoming more flexable vs demanding all employees occupy a cube in valuable office space.
Outlook Doesn't Archive or Auto Archive Emails Not Removed From Inbox
If you are trying to Archive in Outlook or using Auto Archive in Outlook but find that your emails are not removed from your inbox sent items etc you may have a modified date that is earlier then the date specified in your archive or autoarchive settings. Outlook archiving does not use the received date when archiving it uses modified date which can be changed without your knowledge. To check to see if the modified date is not falling within the date you specified in your archive settings right click the top of one of the columns where you view mail. Choose customize and choose the fields button. You'll notice that Modified is a hidden field by default. Add it to the visable fields and move it to the top. Now view your emails and you'll see that you might have a received date of 1/15/2009 but a modified date of 4/18/2009 and if you said to archive everything older than 3/15/2009 no mail would be removed from your inbox because the modified date is 4/18/2009. There is no way to fix this that i'm aware of, you just have to discover the modified date and adjust your archiving date.

Costco Closed On The 4th Of July
July 4 is Independance day and in honor of this holiday Costco stores will be closed. Normally
Costco hours on a Saturday would be 9:30am - 6:00pm. Other holidays that Costco closes on are Memorial Day, New Years Day and Easter. So plan ahead to shop at Costco on July 3 or you'll have to wait until Sunday when the store reopens. Many other grocery stores are open on the fourth of July so if you find Costco closed on this holiday check out your other options in your area.
