Super Targets Get Even Better

One trend i've noticed is the expansion of the Super Walmart and Super Target style of retail stores. When the Super Target stores were first brought on the market they were indeed much larger than a standard Target store but the grocery department seemed lacking and the food was more expensive than a standard grocery store. Perhaps it is the pressure put on Target by the Super Walmart stores that followed but today there seems to be a more super version of Target on the way. The Otsego Super Target is a great example. It offers a full grocery store with variety and prices many times better and less expensive than its full grocery rivals like Cub and Rainbow foods. Toss in a Starbucks and you have a genuine all in one retail store. Now we'll all need larger SUV's to haul it all home.

Get Paid To Advertise Online Search In Google Leads To Malware

So today I did a Google search for get paid to advertise online and found a list of websites about how students were gettin paid to advertise on line on their blogs and websites with content driven by class assignments. One of the websites shows you a page filled with nonsense using the keywords and then re-directs you to another search site. My virusscanner blocked the next site thankfully. It would be nice if Google would protect web searchers by not ranking malware infested sites on the first page for searches.

New York State Unemployment Hits 8.2%

This month the unemployment rate in New York hit 8.2% a rate not seen since 1993. Even after 9/11 the unemployment rate has not been so high. Citizens of New York have been applying the pressure on the New York State Department of Labor clogging phone lines with questions and applications for unemployment benefits. Those living in New York can now receive 33 weeks of unemployment insurance with a 13 week extension that was granted due to the high rate of unemployment. The NYS Unemployment system has not been this stretched in years and it is hoped that as the economy improves more and more New Yorkers will find new employment. It is recommended that if you need to apply for unemployment do it online to avoid long lines and hold times at the telecenter. Have all your information regarding your eligibility for unemployment and previous work history to ensure your benefit is not denied.

Internet Explorer Won't Browse FireFox Will

I had an odd problem where Internet Explorer 7 would not browse websites but FireFox would browse just fine. I would get page cannot be displayed with Internet Explorer. I used FireFox to upgrade to IE8 and still my Internet Explorer would not browse but FireFox would. I found my problem with Internet Explorer but do not know why it happened. I clicked Tools, Internet Options, Connection Tab and LAN Settings button. Usually Automatically Detect Settings is checked however I noticed that Use Automatic Configuration Script was checked and http://127.0.0.1:49321/redirect.pac was listed there. I have no idea how that got there or what it is. I just reloaded this PC fresh with Windows Vista Enterpise less than 24hrs ago. I also have active and updated Virus Scan software. I set the Internet Explorer settings back to Automatically Detect Settings and now Internet Explorer will browse again. I discovered later that it was our corporate Aventail remote access system putting in that redirect. When you logon your connection is changed by Aventail to that redirect. When you click the logout button Aventail switches the setting back to Automatically detect settings. Maybe I forgot to logout or maybe Aventail screwed up.

Cash For Clunkers Coming Soon

Today the senate is expected to vote on the Cash For Clunkers bill which would provide shoppers of new vehicles with a voucher worth $3500 or $4500 off the price of a new car or truck. There is a catch however. Your new vehicle must get 4 or 5 MPG better than the current vehicle you drive and your current vehicle must get 18 MPG or worse gas milage. You must also turn in your clunker to the auto dealer as the goal is to get the polluters and less efficient vehicles off the road. The Cash For Clunkers Bill is a boon to auto dealers and auto makers alike but not expected to entirely prop up the auto industry. Think of the Clunker Bill as a bandaid for an industry in grave need of help. Like all government programs tax payers will foot the bill to the tune of $4 billion dollars. So if you've been thinking of buying a new car or truck get your cash for clunkers voucher as soon as possible.

Kate Gosselin's Hair Plus 8

It seems that just as much as folks tune into John and Kate Plus 8 to see the kids and their adventures, they tune in to see the lates in Kate Gosselin's Hairstyles. The stylish mom of 8 with her new wealth is able to maintain high fashion through regular nail treatments and regular haircuts. My wife refers to the Kate Gosselin Hairstyle as a reverse mullet, party up front and business in the back. I don't know about that given the spikes out the back of that hairdo but one thing is for sure, as Kate Gosselin's hair changes it will be followed and copied by many of her fans. It's not unusal at our local hair salon to have customers come in asking to have their hair done like Kate Gosselin, whomever styled that hairdo is sure to have a rash of new customers.

US Unemployment Rate Hits 9.4%

As we near the mid point of 2009 the unemployment numbers don't seem to be improving. What was an unemployment rate of about 8% has now grown into an unemployment rate of 9.4% in June 2009. States like Oregon, California, Michigan and Indiana have especially high numbers of citizens now seeking work after losing their jobs. It will be interesting to see how unemployment benefits stretch the budgets of state and federal governments.
