Reactivate Unemployment Benefits

If you have been receiving unemployment benefits you are no doubt familiar with the process of claiming your weeks or certifying your unemployment benefits. Typically this needs to be done on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to keep your unemployment payments flowing. However sometimes you may become employed for a bit, go out of town or obtain income in other ways. If you have not filed your weekly claim your benefits may lapse and require that you reactivate unemployment benefits to get the claim going again. Each state has unique processes for reactivating your unemployment benefits but generally the process is to call the unemployment office directly or go online and submit a form for the re-activation of your unemployment benefits. When you call or go online, be prepared to provide your personal information including a claim number if applicable, social security number, address phone number and also any income or work information for the period between when you last claimed weeks and when you are reactivating unemployment. You should be able to perform this anytime within your length of overall unemployment benefits on a yearly basis.
