Did Minnesota Over Pay For Your Unemployment?

It has been discovered that the State of Minnesota overpayed those receiving Minnesota Unemployment Benefits by a total of 3.2 million dollars in 2010. A new federal program to give unemployment benefit recipients $25 extra was miscalculated by the computer and overpaid recipients. Now the state is wondering how they can get their money back. Usually in cases of computer error only about half of the overpayments can be taken back from recipients. Because of this computer error the state has given away $1.5 million taxpayer dollars but at least it went to those most in need. If you are receiving Minnesota unemployment benefits you might want to use your MN unemployment login to check and see if there are any notifications that you were overpayed benefits. In cases like this it is best to get square with the state as soon as you can.
