Trying up upgrade or update your Java version on your Windows PC but getting Java Error Error Applying Transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid. Follow the steps below to resolve this Java transforms error and update your version of Java.

Using Add/Remove programs, uninstall the current versions of Java runtime that are installed.

Download the offline version of Java and save to your desktop. Then try and install the Java update. You may be successful or you may still get the error applying transforms error. If you get the error keep going through the steps.

Browse to the folder below. Depending on the version of Java you are trying to install the exact name of the jrel.6.0_06 folder may differ with version number. For example if you had version 6.0_07 it would be java\jrel.6.0_07 Also the folder user may be called administrator or your username.

C:\Documents and Settings\administrator\Application Data\Sun\Java\jre1.6.0_06

Now look for an MSI file it will end in .MSI and double click it to run and restart the install. That install will likley be successful.
