1979 Sportster
Are you asking if a 1979 Sportster is a good or bad bike? It really just depends on the condition and price. 1979 was still the AMF days but most of the problems associated with quality have likley been removed by routine replacement of engine components. If you find a 1979 in good condition that has been maintained and is at a fair price then your set. Now if I was goign to choose between a evolution motor'd sporty or an iron head i'd choose the evolution motor which I think was 1986 and on. The evolution motor is far superior in power, cooling and reliability. That said i'm sure there are many neglected and abused evolution motor sporty's out there as well.
